Question by Illuminate: Is "spout" a type of food?
In the movie "Submarine" the narrator says about a Christmas feast that the turkey was dry and "the spouts had turned mushy and out of focus".
I can't figure out what food "spout" is. And if it isn't food, what does he mean?
I couldn't find an answer on google. The reasons I don't know this is because English is my second language and I'm Jewish, never had Christmas...

I don't get the "out of focus" but it might be "sprouts" as in Brussels sprouts.

Lebensmittel are more like groceries, single ingredients, not prepared meals.

I'd say Weihnachtsessen (foods) or Weihnachtsgerichte (meals) would be a better translation.
